Spring Nuc Program
All the nuc orders are filled ! This concludes the Spring Nuc Program for 2012.
If there are other nucs, please advertise via the list serve.
In an effort to address and promote honeybee sustainability in BANV, Julie Waser is working with the club’s queen breeders, teachers, and members to coordinate the club’s efforts in the production and distribution of spring nucleus colonies. Julie is the liaison between those who are able to make and nurture a spring nuc and the individuals who are looking to purchase a nuc. Nuc producers will set their own prices and terms (the BANV teaching team has requests that if possible, nuc sale price to students remain $80-90 range). If the club has nucs available after filling student orders, the BANV members who have placed a request on-line will be notified of remaining nucs. Orders will be filled in order of date of request, with students having priority over club members. If negotiations fail, a student or member may request to be re-added to the bottom of the request list. Any beekeeper who would like to take part in this program by creating a spring nuc(s) to sell is encouraged to register below ( Nuc Producers).
Nuc Refresher course, presented by Pat and Jim Haskell will take place at the Mason District Center on Tuesday, April 24th at 7:00 pm.
Please keep in mind that queens in northern Virginia are generally not available before May. Your nuc may not be ready for pick-up until late May to mid-June. Once you pickup and pay for your nuc it is your responsibility!
**BANV is NOT responsible for negotiations that do not work out, or for nuc colonies that fail.** Please recognize that this is an imperfect world and each individual beekeeper in this program will do their best to work with you.
